In Memory of Janet Coles

The section of the BRHT Bridge Road to America Lane is sponsored in memory of Janet Coles, who died in March 2024.

Janet was a member of and volunteer for Ramblers. Her roles were Walks Leader and Walks Secretary.

She led walks on Dartmoor, leading to detailed understanding and knowledge of the Moor. She became an Information Officer for Dartmoor National Park Authority.

Her quote “my beloved Dartmoor”.

Janet Coles, late wife of George Coles. Money has been kindly donated to the BRHT project in memory of Janet.

Later, Janet became a Leader for HF Holidays where her customers always gave her excellent reviews. Her career spanned 20 years. She joined their Abroad Panel, leading holidays in France, Italy, Lanzarote, the Caribbean, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

She developed packages for HF Holidays on Dartmoor, the Isles of Scilly and Vienna.

Apart from her interest in walking Janet was a hotelier, an administrator and a good mother, leaving two sons and five grandchildren. She was a loving wife, a keen wild swimmer and a talented Morris dancer.

Above all, she had a knack for living. She is sorely missed.

Janet would be pleased to know that her memory is being marked by sponsoring a section of a new accessible walking trail the Brixham Railway Heritage Trail.
